Well, after going to bed extremely early last night, we, of course, woke up around 4 a.m. Eventually, we did roll out of bed and make our instant oatmeal and hit the overpriced Starbucks downstairs in the hotel and got our registration badges. I started getting excited seeing everyone in their costumes (even though tomorrow is technically costume day). And then the programs finally started with interviews with Matthew Waterhouse, Ian McNiece (aka Winston Churchill), John Leeson (the voice of K-9), Cush Jumbo (Lois from Torchwood: Children of Earth) and Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding. It was a lot of sitting, but beyond entertaining. I especially loved watching Janet Fielding and Peter Davison going at it with each other. Hilarious! There were also two Daleks and a K-9 running around.

Don’t worry, I have photos. It’s just a matter of uploading them, although I’ll probably go through them all at first since I’ve already shot a LOT of pictures.

We also sat in on a small thing I call the “kaffee thing” because the name of it is not something I can spell off the top of my head (or even pronounce). It was basically an informal get-together with one of the con guests. This was with Blair Shedd, artist for the Doctor Who comics. It was informative and entertaining and I hate that I don’t collect comic books anymore, but I learned the hard way that it is a very expensive habit! LOL

We also watched Frazer Hines’ one-man show where he basically goes through episodes of Doctor Who that he was in, telling interesting and funny anecdotes.

All in all, a great first day.

The piece de resistance, however, was Peter Davison’s entrance at the Opening Ceremonies. He shot a special video for the con, with cameo appearances by Freema Agyeman, Janet Fielding and David Tennant. It was freakin’ awesome. BEYOND awesome. He is officially the coolest guy on the planet right now.

We didn’t quite make it to the dance tonight because we are EXHAUSTED. I’m actually surprised I made it this late, but tomorrow is costume day and I should get a good night’s sleep so I can be the best Lady Christina de Souza I can be. Tomorrow, I’m focused on getting my “Time Flight” DVD signed by the 5th Doctor and his two companions from that episode and tomorrow night is the fun Masquerade costume event and contest (Rachel is participating with her Lucy dress, which is awesome).

Anyway, I am having the time of my life and I have laughed so hard today and cheered so much that I believe I might lose my voice before the weekend is over. Wish you were here!

Even if the weather seems to have been brought in by the British guests directly from England (yes, it’s cold and rainy… figures).
